Collecting your vehicle in Maristes
Maristes is a residential neighbourhood at the geographical centre of the Dakar peninsula. Quiet, well-connected and just minutes from the motorway — a good starting point for heading to the airport, the Petite Côte or inland. Senoto is a marketplace: your independent partner coordinates the time and place of the handover directly with you.
How to collect your vehicle
- 1Arrange the meeting with your partner
Your partner will contact you directly on WhatsApp to agree on the exact place and time for the vehicle handover. Senoto connects you: the handover itself is coordinated between you and the independent partner.
- 2Prepare your documents
Driving licence, passport/photo ID, Senoto booking confirmation, means of payment for the deposit. The contract is in French.
- 3Check the vehicle before driving off
Walk around the vehicle (four sides, interior, mileage, fuel level) and take your own dated photos to secure the handover record.
- 4Spot the motorway exit
The toll motorway interchange is just a few minutes from Maristes via the airport road. It is the quickest starting point in Dakar towards AIBD, the Petite Côte or Thiès. Switch on Google Maps and follow the « Autoroute » signs.
The Maristes neighbourhood
- Maristes is named after the Marist Brothers school, a historic educational institution in the area. It is a popular district with Dakar families.
- Located between Grand Yoff, Parcelles Assainies, Liberté and the HLM neighbourhood. Balanced access to all of Dakar: Plateau in 15 min, Almadies in 20 min, Rufisque in 25 min.
- The area is quiet and residential: wide streets, trees, little traffic at night. Very different from Plateau or Médina.
- Local shops: bakeries, pharmacies, Senegalese restaurants (thiéboudienne, yassa — 1,500 to 3,000 FCFA). The CCBM shopping centre (Liberté 6) is 10 min away.
- For expatriate families: international schools nearby, Pasteur clinic, Auchan (Liberté 6). The area combines a quiet residential feel with urban services.
Navigation landmarks
- Marist Brothers school: the area’s main landmark. Most taxi drivers know it.
- Maristes mosque: visible landmark (minaret), corner of rue 6 and avenue Bourguiba.
- HLM market (Grand Yoff): 10 min on foot. Household goods, clothing, electronics. No on-site parking — park on the edge.
- The VDN (Voie de Dégagement Nord) runs north of the neighbourhood. It is Dakar’s main east-west axis, always busy at rush hour.
- The airport road (heading south) is the shortcut to the motorway interchange — about 3 minutes by car.
Why Maristes is a good starting point
- Fast motorway access: a few minutes to the interchange, then AIBD in about 45 min, Saly in 1 h 15, Thiès in 1 h.
