Ferry terminal nearby
Dakar port is on the Plateau. If you arrive by ferry from Carabane, Gorée or Casamance (Aline Sitoé Diatta), a city-centre pick-up is the natural follow-on.
The neighbourhood
Plateau, Fann, Médina — historic Dakar
The Plateau has been the administrative and economic heart of Dakar since the colonial era. Place de l'Indépendance, the cathedral, government ministries, central banks, embassies — all concentrated within a few square kilometres. Business hotels (Radisson Blu, Pullman Teranga, King Fahd Palace nearby) abound.
Fann, north of the Plateau, is a quiet residential area with embassies, the Hôpital Principal and Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD). The neighbourhood is more open than the Plateau, with streets lined with baobabs and flamboyant trees.
The Médina, to the east of the Plateau, is a dense, vibrant popular quarter — "real" Dakar for many Senegalese. Tilène market, tailoring workshops, thiéboudienne restaurants. Traffic is heavy but the neighbourhood has incomparable energy.
Petrol stations: Total and Shell on the main roads (Avenue Faidherbe, Route de Fann, Avenue Lamine Guèye). Parking: paid and supervised by informal attendants on the Plateau during the day (200–500 FCFA), easier in Fann and in the evenings.

Can I return the vehicle to a different location?
Yes. Returns to AIBD, Saly, Almadies or Maristes are possible. A relocation fee may apply depending on the distance.
Is parking straightforward on the Plateau?
During the day (9 am–6 pm), parking is paid and supervised by informal attendants (200–500 FCFA). In the evenings, at weekends and in Fann, it is easier and free.
Are there petrol stations nearby?
Yes. Total and Shell on the main Plateau and Fann roads (Avenue Faidherbe, Route de Fann). No difficulty refuelling.

I am staying in the Médina — is that covered?
Yes. The pick-up area covers the Plateau, Fann and the Médina. The Médina is a dense quarter — the partner will find a suitable handover point (in front of your accommodation, at a nearby petrol station, etc.).
Is pick-up from the port possible?
Yes. Dakar port is on the Plateau. If you arrive by ferry (from Gorée or Casamance), the partner can meet you near the ferry terminal.
How does the pick-up work?
Licence check, contract signed, keys and joint condition report. Allow 10 minutes. The partner comes to you — no desk to find.
